With a Springtime boom for fishing and camping!

Narborough Fisheries report busy start to the season as it makes enhancements at venue

Narborough Fisheries, the picturesque 26-acre site located between King’s Lynn and Swaffham in West Norfolk, is investing in its campsite to provide better amenities for holidays in Norfolk for anglers and nature lovers – and enhancing its fishing facilities, including adding a new fly-fishing shelter to allow for changes in the weather!

The venue has reported a 50% increase in bookings for this Spring so far – including Easter – via holiday sites such as Pitchup.com, campsites.co.uk and visit West Norfolk and this is partly to do with the UK’s growing passion for fishing and wildlife breaks.

Says Eric Smith, co-owner of Narborough Fisheries, ‘We are finding that pitch bookings have started to flood in for the start to the season via sites including Pitchup.com and campsites.co.uk.  We think that that this is partly to do with the UK’s growing obsession with fishing and wildlife breaks and people are seeking out the best venues with west Norfolk being at the top of many people’s wish-list.  It is for this reason that we are investing in the future of the centre – our aim is continue building on the success we have had here so far.  It’s one of the jewels in the crown of West Norfolk!’

‘Our message is bring your camera, binoculars and/or fishing tackle and relax in the beauty of the Narborough countryside.  It’s good for everyone’s mental health to be close to nature.’

‘The sunny weather has made a difference too.  Although not consistently warm as we have enjoyed at the start of other season’s, the weather makes people’s thoughts turn to camping.’

‘With challenges in the Middle East people are looking more to the UK than usual for summer and weekend breaks particularly as the economy is being so affected by the fuel price increases – and that’s without mentioning the problems with airport security delays!’

‘It’s looking like an awesome start to the season this year!’

The 5 fishing lakes at Narborough Fisheries offer a mix of fishing with one Trout Lake (Meadow Lake), one Specimen Carp Lake (Millers Lake), a general mixed course lake (Foresters Lake), and a general Match and Course Fish Lake (Ashford Lake) with over 9,000 fish. The delightfully maintained lakes include 18 lakeside pitches all on hardstanding with 16-Amp hook-ups and easy to access facilities – with a newly-constructed fly-fishing shelter. The fisheries have also recently invested in new amenities including improved shower and toilet facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for campers and anglers alike.  These upgrades are aimed at accommodating the growing number of visitors seeing a relaxing countryside escape.

A record-breaking carp was caught in 2025 at the weight of 40lb in Millers Lake at the centre.

Continues Eric, ‘The revival in UK holidays is also partly because people want to get back to nature. With 84% of people in the UK living in urban areas (according to 2024-2026 data), interest in countryside accommodation is enjoying a revival.’

Adds Tim Cowlard, from Narborough Fisheries, ‘We have added a brand-new trout shelter for our fly-fishing visitors to the centre, and this will be very popular with the changeable weather we get in the UK that can sometimes make fly fishing a little less comfortable than course fishing where umbrellas can be used.  We can see this being very much welcomed by fly fisherman in the months ahead.’

‘Feedback from our fishermen is while wet weather gear is available, they would be pleased to be able to benefit from some protection from the elements!’

The venue has abundantly stocked trout and course fishing lakes and is well known among anglers from across the UK.  The lakes are stocked with trout and mirror and common carp, plus many more species including tench, roach and bream.

The park was acquired by its current owners in 2024 and since then significant investment has been made in the facilities there.

Lakeside pitches for camping are available during the low-season from £34 per night and non-lakeside pitches and non-lakeside rally field options from £25 per night.  Day fishing prices start at £10 per person for course fishing and from £26 for fly fishing for trout.

Narborough Fisheries venue is regularly used for charity fishing matches. A three-fly cast charity event was staged in April raising over £800 to help children in extreme poverty in Manila in the Philippines and another match organised by the Countryside Alliance Campaign in memory of Brian Beattie.
